BJ's most famous bakery chain, Dao Xiang Cun is definitely the place you should pay a visit when that sweet tooth craving starts kicking. Hub used to buy me chinese cakes from there everyweek, so don't be surprise if i'm a little bigger than before now (No kid). You may also wonder, why buy when i bake at the same time. You see, i'm this kind of person who rather eat outside or other people's bakes than my own, and i know, i'm weird!

This shop has lotsa chains over the whole metropolitan, and they sell various food ranging from bakery goods to cooked items. This is where you can find any traditional chinese pastries with savoury or sweet filling (my fave is pumpkin and date filling!), local BJ dishes, roasted ducks, chicken and honey fried fish, local candies and snack goodies i.e. nian gao, ma tuan, tang yuen, yuan xiao etc.
I'm only hooked in their cakes, since pastries are way above my line or too fattening if i wld say. Visitors and friends often give us pastries from this shop, and it wld take us ages to finish. To be frank, I feel too guilty to swallow that piece of butter and sweet paste down into my body although my heart keeps calling the mind stupid. But when it comes to cakes, it's a different story altogether. I can eat a piece of their cake everyday, and never get bored of it, particularly the date walnut cake.
Seaweed Cake with a bit of pork floss (mom likes this)
My No 1 fave: Date Walnut CakeThis lemon mini loaf is also pretty good.
Those were the three cakes Hub wld normally buy for me, especially the date cake which i simply simply love a lot! Would love to bake a date cake one day! (once i've figured out the secret recipe, of course)!!
Note: Sorry, i actually found out that the lemon mini loaf is in real, grapefruit! Thanks to my tastebud huh?!!
